Pittsburgh’s foamy jaundiced rejected cast member from the Great Space Coaster has defeated Pat Patriot in the 1st Round of CbsSportsline.com’s Most Fierce NFL Mascot Contest. Like the father of a boy who just won a baton twirling contest, we are in a battle within in own minds. We feel awkward for even being is this position, yet elated to be on the winning side. We admit, all we wanted to do was win the 1st Round and send Pat Patriot back to his bitter, cheating, cold hearted fans with his head down in shame. But those tricky SOB’s over at CBS know exactly what they are doing. The 2nd Round is upon us and Steely McStupid is nose to nose with Poe of the hated Baltimore Ravens. A Bird? Named after a poem? As a mascot for a city that stole a football team? A avian flu carrying winged rat that roots and cheers for Ray Lewis? C’mon, you’re making us Steely backers again. Damn you, CbsSportsline, damn you.

  CbsSportsline.com is holding a “Most Fierce NFL Mascot Competition” .  It is going to be one heck-of-a tough competition.  Judging by the picture, their are some fierce mamma jamma mascots in the NFL, grrrrrrrrrr.   Pittsburgh’s yellow doofus, Steely McBeam, has drawn New England Patriot mascot, Pat Patriot, in the first round of the AFC bracket.  WOW.  What an epic conundrum.  What the hell are we supposed to do now?  On one hand, we don’t care much to see Steely win anything.  On the other hand, we also have an intense inner desire to see all things Patriots smashed to little tiny bits, run through a meat grinder, peppered, smoked and aged, and then fed to feral cats.

We will, for the sake of posterity, provide you a link to vote. (Posterity and the fact that SMcS’s resident curmudgeon, Stinky, was interviewed for the contest).  Shameless, we know.  So, do you job and vote for the most fierce, or the fierciest, or the fiercier; however the hell you say it.

Found via Google maps, we think this tall, gawky-oddish-black-and-gold-Paul-Bunyonesque guy looming over a local tire shop would make a better mascot for the Steelers than our shameful McBeam.  Big bonus points for wearing a Tommy Gun jersey.  We love you tire guy.
